Publishers original forest green cloth with spine lettered in gilt and with gilt panel lines at the top and bottom of the spine, the front and rear cloth covered boards have blind stamped vertical lines at the top, black endpapers, lg 8vo. In this volume Wallace documents the intellectual achievements of 19th century. He also analyses its social 'failures', such
