Cockles (Kuti) SALA earthy notes of banksia withCockles have been a staple food for Ngarrindjeri people for thousands of years. When my Nan was growing up on the mission, one of the things she loved doing was shuffling her feet in the sand to find kuti (cockles) to eat.
