Grizzlies can grow to over 1200 pounds and can be found in large numbers in the Canadian and Alaskan Coastal and mountain ranges. This painting was a study of a large grizzly fishing in a shallow stream for Sockeye Salmon. If you look closely you can see the reddish color of the Sockeye in the water near the watchful bear.
